Home tour - Vibrant, kitschy home of Mamata Sharma Das in Noida - part II

So are you ready to see more of Mamta's home and story...

If you have not seen Part I of Mamta's home do check it out HERE.

Here is what else Mamta has to say about her home...

"During a visit to West Africa, I got hooked up with the intrinsic beauty of masks. Before I realized, the d├ęcor within my home got it fair share of masks picked carefully from Delhi flea markets as well also other collectibles from garage sales. The colourful handmade iguanas from packaging wires(brought from the street vendors in the city of Antananarivo) serves as icing on the cake.

The ‘terracotta’tiles on my studio wall is inspired by Jamini Roy’s painting (famous artist from Kolkata) bought carefully from a local market in Kolkata.

My home is a blend of culture from all over India.  You can sense, how different cultures are amalgated under one roof. Incense stand holder, mini triangular wood engraved closet from Saharanpur. Wall hangings and patchwork umbrella purchased from Gujarat handicrafts. Blue pottery from Jaisalmer .

To your surprise, the investment in everything is real low. Collectibles and other artefacts are usually street brought, or acquired from flea markets and garage sales.

Creativity cannot function 24/7 so I try to make most of the time by changing the setting of the house.  However, blogging helps to gather fresh ideas and conceive them in my unique way."

Home tour - Vibrant, kitschy home of Mamata Sharma Das in Noida - part I

Its friday again, were you waiting for home tour? If so, you are in for a great treat. This is a post going to be worth reading and drooling at beautiful pics...

When I received Mamta's email my jaw literally dropped , not just because she have beautiful home but the way she has shared her home story with us. I am going to this tour in two part because there is so many things I love about her home and her story...so its not possible to include all in one post :)

Now here is something about Mamta :
"I live in Noida with my better half and our lovely pet dog ‘Pranky’.

An amateur in blogging world, I am still learning the tricks of the trade but as an avid learner, I keep a tap  on creative aspects and absorb the spark of people who share the same passion. They inspire me to challenge my ideas and bring the best out of me.

I followed a corporate regime for a major part of my career before turning to my first love i.e; Creativity. Not just painting, my passion includes crafts, traveling, collecting handicrafts and artifacts collected from all across the world, Bakingcollecting Mugs (coz I am a die-hard tea lover), DoodlingBlue Pottery, Drawing Murals,HennaPhotography and a long list of things which makes me happy. I am a huge kitsch fan too!"

Now her home story : "Home is where my heart is"
"Marriage propelled me to move into this house which was a typical bachelor’s mess. Like a challenge, I happily accepted it and began to think how I can turn it into a heaven of my dreams. The first spark came from there only.

IMG_0762 - Copy

First task comprised of colouring the entire house into a schematic manner. Walls were covered in bright fiery yellow and tint of orange partially. My living room represents life and features a combination of yellow ochre and warm yellow on the corresponding walls.

The furniture is cane wood brought from an auction fair and truly represents the earthy feel. The rustic taste for fashion and interior is more ethnic than contemporary.  The dark Mahogany shade represents my taste in Cane, which is unique and lovely in its own way.

There is a peculiar beauty about colourful wine bottles which always captivated my attention. These empty bottles now serve as ‘home’ to my bamboo and money plants.

As an adventurer and enthusiast, I truly believe that a ‘picture is worth a thousand words...

Like a true artist, I believe in creating something new rather than working or living on something which already exists. "

Bring it home...

Best thing in life is Free...NATURE. Bring it home...

I was driving back home after dropping my son to school and became nostalgic :) Cherry blossom is slowly fading away and trees are becoming green...I had to bring home few more Forsythia before they are totally gone....
But do not worry green trees will not stop me from bringing  it home...

It doesn't have to be a flowers to look beautiful. cut few green branches and bring it inside...

I love how this flower arrangement looks with my stone trivet , another gift from nature.

Think outside the box and find something else then conventional vase to display your bounty from nature...I am sure you will have something in garden, kitchen or tucked away in storage... :)
Go ahead...I will wait. BRING IT HOME :)

Playroom gallery wall and free printables

Remember this picture when I shared playroom update and plan...

That little corner with the mattress is our family corner..that's were we lounge and watch TV while kiddo plays so I wanted to have a gallery wall with some of our favorite pics but I do not wanted to cover that whole corner and go big as its playroom not a main Family room.

we already had vinyl family quote there from begining....from the time when I started working on this room so idea was to include that in photo gallery.

What I had in my mind was colorful frames and light weight as I already mentioned when we did makeover of playroom entry that I do not want worry about heavy wooden frames with glass which can hurt someones...sometimes play can go rough in there, specially when kids are playing alone. So Ikea NYTTJA was in my mind all along but I also wanted some fun shape ones too..not just the rectangle. so when I went to Ikea, I brought the gallery idea which I had drawn on paper and chose these white, green and blue frame with few NYTTJA frmaes.

photo (2)

Now if you see above pic there is no  NYTTJA frames  because when I arranged it with this chunky frame, it didn't look quite right.

I had this display going on the wall beside but I never liked the idea of two brown frame with printables on side of flashcard display so I removed them and used one in gallery...

Brown is not the color I want so...
Seriously spray paint can transform anything :)

And up on the wall around family vinyl quote...
Here is without brown frames around the number flashcard wall display...My initial choice for spray painted frame was red but I wanted to pull the colors of the pillow so I went with yellow:)
So I already purchased few NYTTJA frames...where did it go ? :)

I ended up using them to create a little photo group above table and chairs...
Our Guru "Pramukh swami maharaj" has big impact on our life and I wanted to it to be part of my son's playroom so...
I grouped it with the printable I created...I love that printable and I have kept it without watermark so you all can download and enjoy...:)

Another printable I created long time ago...it so appropriate for kids room or playroom...

I have just one more project to show you for playroom and then the big reveal...can't wait :)

Five repurposed planters on Earth day

Happy Earth day...

Here is my son holding his earth ball in his hands..but thats how it is...Its in our hands to save the Earth....

Planting..gardening season is on and here is five things you can re purpose and use as planters..

1. Plastic bottles turned in to planters
Here is how my two friends Disha and Tanya turned empty soda bottles in to planters.

2. Paint can turned to planters..do not forget to drill holes at bottom for drainage.
3. Old tire turned to planters

Planting containers made from tires
4. Old colander turned to planters..this works perfectly..no need to drill hole for drainage.
5.  Turn an old chair in to planter...it also give so much character to garden/patio...
Everyday should be earth day and every little drops in ocean counts so every body please do our bit and save the Earth...
